Domaine Tariquet: Heritage and Expertise in Gascony
Located in Gascony, in southwestern France, Domaine Tariquet has belonged to the same family since 1912. Brothers Armin and Rémy Grassa, the fifth generation of winemakers, now manage the Domaine Tariquet family estate. The estate is a grower-producer: all the wines and Bas-Armagnacs come exclusively from grapes harvested from the estate’s vineyards.
Mechanical harvesting with destemming directly in the vineyard, skin maceration during transport and then in the presses, static settling, cold stabilization with the finest lees kept in suspension, and fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.
Artisanal Armagnac Distillation
Continuous distillation in a traditional copper Armagnac still, heated over a wood fire. in centuries-old cellars with varying humidity levels, in lightly toasted barrels, made exclusively from French oak sourced from the Vosges and Allier regions, to preserve the aromas, finesse, and freshness of the eaux-de-vie at 40% ABV.
Grape varieties: Ugni blanc 60%, Baco 40%
XO (Extra Old) & AOP Bas-Armagnac
This Bas-Armagnac bears the designation XO (Extra Old), guaranteeing a minimum aging period of 10 years in oak barrels, but 15 years on average (regulations require an XO to be at least 10 years old), giving it exceptional complexity and elegance. It also benefits from the AOP (Protected Designation of Origin) Bas-Armagnac, a guarantee of authenticity, quality, and a deep connection with its region of origin.
The Flavor of XO Bas-Armagnac
Its deep amber color is immediately captivating. The nose reveals beautiful intensity, with notes of candied fruit, sweet spices, and delicate touches of vanilla and fine wood. On the palate, it is round and persistent, balancing power and freshness. The finish lingers with nuances of dried fruit, cocoa, and licorice.
