Separated from Yquem by a small valley, this cru was born in 1879 when the owners of Ch. Peyraguey sold the highest part of their property to a Parisian pharmacist named Grillon. In 1914, the cru, renamed Clos Haut-Peyraguey, was bought by the Pauly and Ginestet families. Sole owners from 1937, the former kept it until 2012, the year it was acquired by Bernard Magrez. The terroir (21 ha) is top quality, with well-drained sandy gravel resting on clay.
